Synopsis: Merissa Hagen, (Jacinda Barrett), is devoted to her son (Tom Russell), and is devastated when he's diagnosed with leukaemia. Then she's even more devastated to discover that her husband, (Richard Roxburgh)is having an affair and planning to leave her - and that he's been unfaithful to her for years. But perhaps he might have fathered a child who might provide the marrow transplant Jack needs to survive. In the cancer ward of Melbourne hospital, Merissa meets a recently widowed Irishman (James Nesbitt) who is trying to make life bearable for his dying son (Kodi Smit McPhee). The two were sailing round the world when their adventure got interrupted. MATCHING JACK beautifully captures the power of love and the resilience of the human spirit… with a gentle and uplifting ending, that hints at a future full of hope.
