Synopsis: A hauntingly beautiful underwater world is brought to vivid life by The Royal Ballet in this 50th anniversary staging. Frederick Ashton's shimmering choreography, Lila de Nobili's impressionistic designs and Hans Werner Henze's specially commissioned, atmospheric score, memorably combine to evoke the many moods and colours of the sea.
